This was going to be a “best of 2015″ post, but then I blinked and it’s all of a sudden February. What’s good about true great products is that they last the test of time and these 10 I’m still loving in 2016!

Here’s my roundup of products, a good mix of makeup, skin, body, hair and nail care products! Without further ado:

NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella

imageI knew I had a winner on my hands when the first time I wore this I kept asking my husband “do I still have lisptick on?” and he kept answering “yes” every single time. 4 hour later. 6 hours later…..

What’s good about it:

  • Lasts forever! Even after food and drinks the shades stays put quite well.
  • You barely feel you have something on your lips
  • The red shade is pretty neutral, so it works in a wide variety of skintones
What’s not so good about it

  • As with other NARS products, it is not cheap. You better love a good red!

Estee Lauder Enlighten Even Effect (E.E) Skintone Corrector

imageHands down my foundation / primer duo product of the summer (and the months that followed, really). The majority of looks I wore on the second half of the year included this product!

    What’s good about it:

    • Provides a soft focus / blur effect that looks incredibly flattering on the skin
    • The product’s tint seems to easily adapt to the skin tone. The fact it’s pretty sheer helps enhance that feature
    • Works well on its own or combined with a fuller coverage foundation. I often used it as primer and it added a glossy / dewey texture to my more matte finish foundations
What’s not so good about it

  • It only comes in 3 shades. Sure, it’s sheer enough that a lot of skin tones can get away with it, but a lot are still excluded from getting that benefit.
  • Might not be great for oily skin (combination skin is perfectly fine, though!)

    Skyn Iceland Pure Cloud Cleanser

imageAfter The Body Shop decided to discontinue my beloved favorite second cleanse, here comes this Pure Cloud Cleanser to the rescue! This one makes me want to explore this brand a little more!

    What’s good about it:

    • It’s incredible gentle, while at the same time thoughroly cleansing the skin
    • For a high end brand, the price is reasonable (not cheap, but at around 30€ it is reasonable)
    • Between the smell and the texture, it feels incredibly lush when applying
What’s not so good about it

  • Because it’s so creamy, it might be hard to remove completely, unless you are using a washcloth / flannel or the muslin cloth it comes with. Make sure you take your time to rinse if you use neither!

Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Rouge Noir

imageThe product that broke my willpower after I said I wasn’t going to buy makeup until at least using everything I own already had to make the list.

    What’s good about it:

    • The cream to powder texture is great and it blends great on the lids
    • The color is buildable. In general it’s pretty sheer, which to me is a key selling point because that means you can use it on more ocassions
What’s not so good about it

  • It’s Chanel and thus, it’s expensive. Also, being limited edition, it means might not be as available anymore

The Body Shop Fuji Green Tea Body Butter

imageThis one was one of the new scents released this year by The Body Shop and as usual, you could buy everything Fuji Green Tea, from body wash, to perfurme. But it was the body butter what won in my book!

    What’s good about it:

    • It’s a very rich moisturizer which provides great hydration to the skin
    • At the same time, the Fuji Green Team makes it feel incredibly refreshing
    • As with many products from The Body Shop, it’s a product that feels luxurious at a very reasonable price
What’s not so good about it

  • Bees like this. Don’t wear when exploring the great outdoors. I got stung by bees twice in a month. Or maybe I just got unlucky!

    Real Techniques Bold Metals Collection

imageHere’s another one that I knew was a winner from the beginning: when my mother, who at the time was staying with me, first saw one of these, I honestly thought she was going to steal it. And she is not a makeup crazy person like I am.

    What’s good about it:

    • The bristles are incredibly soft and blend product like a dream
    • These, like the other regular RT collection brushes, are also synthetic brushes, so 100% cruelty free
    • They are so beautifully crafted, these brushes are not only a great makeup tool, but a decorative piece.
What’s not so good about it

  • When compared to the original RT brushes, these are insanely expensive. Still, not as expensive as MAC brushes, for example.

Tanya Burr Nail Polish in Toasted Marshmellow

imageFamous beauty YouTuber Tanya Burr came out with her beauty collection a couple of years ago, yet this was the first time I tried the affordable brand. The cute Christmas packaging won me over, more so when I actually tried the product!

    What’s good about it:

    • The formula ia impressively long lasting and definitely chip resistant. The product stayed perfectly fine on my nails for a good 5 days, after which the wear and tear was minimal
    • The color is so versatile and beautiful! Works well for every ocassion!
    • So cheap! At around 7€, the quality you are getting for the price is undeniable!
What’s not so good about it

  • When I first applied the texture looked cumply, but it faded as it dried. i did need 3 coats to get full opacity
  • This was a limited edition shade that came with some nail stickers and I can’t seem to find it anywhere anymore!

COLab Sheer + Invisible Dry Shampoo in New York

imageAnother YouTuber range, this time Ruth Crilly’s from A Model Recommends. I had the chance to try several scents from the Sheer + Invisible range, and althought they are all similar in performance, the fruity floral New York was the one I reached for the most!

    What’s good about it:

    • It is a dry shampoo that will do its job to “refresh” your dirty hair, add a little extra volume, and yet it’s very difficult to overdo it (and get that awful white residue)
    • The scent is great, but not overpowering as it’s very common with other dry shampoos. It’s also long lasting.
    • Incredibly affordble, you can buy a 50 ml travel size or a 200 ml full size, there is also the chance to buy a kit of 5 travel-sized products
What’s not so good about it

  • Because it is “sheer” you will inevitably need more product to refresh your roots. However; this is the type of product where this is a good thing. Easier to add more than to remove excess!

Zelens Z Matrix Energy & Moisture Infusion

imageI’ve yet to find a Zelens product I don’t like (this one is still a staple), but with this particular moisturizer I wasn’t sure how much I loved it until I stopped using it. I ran out and hadn’t repurchased, therefore, I needed to use a backup for a while. That’s when I realized what I was mising!

    What’s good about it:

    • Plumps and hydrates the skin wonderfully! My skin was instantly looking refreshed right after applying
    • Because of the above, this bad boy is a star for dehydrated or generally tired skin. Seriously works like a charm!
    • A little bit goes a long way AND it absorbs quickly after applying
What’s not so good about it

  • The price is scandalous and initially it may not seem like a big deal (I only noticed its “big dealness” when I had to use another moisturizer when I ran out). I stongly suggest you sample it first!
  • If you put too much, you may have a bit of a slip problem when paired with silicone-heavy foundations (you’ll feel the foundation starts coming off while being applied)

    Benefit Rolller Lash Mascara

imageI said I would not buy makeup, but I never said anything about getting free samples. I get my eyebrows done at the Benefit Brow Bar, and on one ocassion I got a sample of this very hyped Roller Lash mascara.

    What’s good about it:

    • The curved plastic brush makes it easy to grab the lashes from the root and thouroghly coat them. This helps giving them that extra curl.
    • Long-lasting, although this is not specified as “waterproof”, I never had any problems with it not lasting well.
What’s not so good about it

  • It’s full size version is expensive, especially for mascara which we all know it’s one of those products to change often. Luckily this is one you can buy in “travel size” at some retailers. Lately that is how I get all my mascaras!
