I had this pretty amazing blue liquid eyeliner that I was dying to try; on top of that I had been binge watching Rupaul’s Drag Race and thus this look was born. That show brough out my inner drag queen and inspired me to create this look that you can use whenever you feel the need of feeling fierce!
To prime my face, I mixed a small amount of Benefit POREfessional and Dew the Hoola Liquid Bronzer. Although the latter is supposed to provide a bronzed effect, I only applied a small amount for a bit of glow.
My latest favorite is this amazing MAKE UP FOR EVER Ultra HD Stick Foundation (in shade 127=Y335) that I’ve buffed on my face using a Real Techniques Expert Face Brush.
I’m not starting with the eyes just yet, but I will apply eye primer and let it set. I used one of my staple products,NARS Pro Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base, applied with my fingers.
While the primer sets, I will use my beloved Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Medium Brown in the usual manner: first I brush up the brows with the spooley, then I trace and fill in with the pencil, and finally I brush again to blend. It’s actually been a while since I last used this one; I’ve actually been testing other products, this one in particular has become a favorite!
Using a MAC 239 Shader Brush I mixed the shades Matt Singh and Matt Malloy fromtheBalm Meet Matt(e) Nude EyeshadowPalette and applied it on the lids, blending slightly towards the crease.
With a MAC 217 Blending Brush, I applied shade Matt Johnson on the outer v and blended towards the crease. I start with a little bit of color and build it up. Easier to add more than to remove when too much. Aside from slowly packing the color, the key here is to blend, blend, blend!
Using the same brush, I applied the shade Matt Wood on the outer v to intensify the effect. With a Lauren Luke Blending Brush I soften the edges by blending the shades towards the brow bone.
This part is super exciting because this product in particular was the inpiration for this entire look. With L’Oreal Paris Super Liner Perfect Slim in shade Blue, I lined my top lashline with a winged effect. I’m more of a gel or pencil liner kind of gal, so this liquid liner almost kicked my butt!
Every other “line” on my eye (top and bottom water line plus lower lash line) I lined using my MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Eyes Eyeliner in shade 3L. I had to be quick on the lower lash line to smudege the product a little bit (using my MAC 239 brush again) because once this liner sets, which is bery quickly, it will not move!
Taking a small amount of ColourPop Supershock Eyeshadow in shade Glow (from the Where the Light Is set) and a Real Techniques Detailer Brush, I accentuated the inner corner of the eyes. This opens up the eye and makes them look brighter.
To finish the eyes, I used my go to mascara, Benefit’s Roller Lash Mascara. I applied several coats to the top lashes and a bit on the lower ones as well. This one is almost running out which is going to make me very sad because I love it!
I’m currently testing the Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer in shade 02 Nude, so I’ll use it for this tutorial. It probably won’t replace my beloved Smashbox one, but so far it’s decent. I applied the product under the eyes and blended with my fingers.
Using the sponge that comes in the package I pressed the Benefit Hello Flawless Powder Foundation under the eyes to set the concealer. I also applied the powder on the T-zone using the brush that’s also in the package.
I grabbed the Dew the Hoola Liquid Bronzer again and used it to lightly contour. I added a stripe on the hollows of my cheeks and blended with the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush I used earlier.
For the cheeks, I’m using my NARS The Multiple in shade Orgasm. I applied the stick directly on my cheeks (same as the foundation) and blended with my fingers. I did it with a light hand since this product is quite pigmented and I did not want to add that much.
To set the bronzer and blush shades I applied in the previous steps, I used the NARS Bronzing Powder in shade Laguna and NARS Blush in shade Orgasm respectively. I also applied a matte highlight on top of my cheekbones, blending with my fingers. The product I used was the Benefit Shy Beam Highlighter. The one you see pictured is not what the actual product looks like, this one’s a sample I feel will last me forever!
I originally wanted to have a more “polished” lip for this look, you know, with lip liner and lipstick. But I’m pretty obsessed with this Lipstick Queen Frog Prince lipstick, which looks pretty awesome on its own. Plus, after spending so long on the eyes, it’s always nice to get through the rest of the face quicker!
And there you have it! The finished look:
